Fans have already gotten a look at Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and Barricade from the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight. And while those reveals spoiled little, we're now getting reports of some major plot details for the upcoming film.
JoBlo
has reported a slew of potential plot details for the fifth
Transformers film, and while they haven't been confirmed by Paramount or
director Michael Bay, they could bring some major changes to the
franchise if proven true.
As
JoBlo reports, the upcoming film will center on Optimus Prime's
discovery that he is partially responsible for the destruction of
Cybertron, the home planet of the Transformers. To atone for his
actions, Prime must track down an artifact capable of restoring life on
the planet — and that's where things start to get weird. Apparently, the
artifact has ties to Merlin, the magician from the King Arthur legends,
who was bestowed the power of magic by a Transformer. We've seen
evidence of Transformers popping up throughout Earth's history in the
films, so it's fair to assume that one traveled to Medieval England.
Tying
in with British lore are three new Transformers rumored to have English
origins. One robot called The Creator is said to have a connection to
the origins of the Transformers. He'll be joined by Squeaks, a robot who
transforms into a Vespa, and Cogman, another who changes into an Aston
Martin. We know Anthony Hopkins has a mystery role
in the film, and considering his Welsh heritage, it would make sense
for him to voice one of the British robots. Given these descriptions,
he'd probably voice The Creator.
The
report further notes that the film will find the Autobots operating out
of a base in the Badlands of South Dakota. Bumblebee is said to serve
in a leadership role while Optimus Prime is on his mission, joined by
returning bots Hound, Drift and Crosshairs. They'll also be joined by
the Dinobots, first seen on the big screen in Transformers: Age of Extinction, as well as new mini-Dinobots.
If this report is true, Transformers: The Last Knight
could turn out to be the wildest entry in the series to date. The
Transformers movies are known for explosive action and incredible
effects, and it's difficult to imagine any fan guessing that the legend
of King Arthur could play a role in the franchise. But the potential
chance to see the rebirth of Cybertron will guarantee fans come along
for the adventure.
Transformers: The Last Knight is
currently set to hit theaters on June 23, 2017. Do you think these
rumors are true? How would the rebirth of Cybertron change the series?
